Canadian National & Union Pacific Partner to Boost North American Rail Connectivity

Canadian National Railway Company (CN) and Union Pacific (UNP) have signed a binding Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen North American rail connectivity. The agreement grants Union Pacific expanded operating rights over CN's Elgin, Joliet & Eastern Railway (EJ&E) corridor through Chicago. In return, CN gains new rights over Union Pacific's network between Memphis, Tennessee, and Eagle Pass, Texas, to facilitate freight movements between Canada and Mexico. This partnership is expected to improve service for customers and open new growth opportunities for both railroads.
