Chilwa Minerals: Mpyupyu West Drilling Confirms Outline, Assays Pending
Chilwa Minerals Limited provided an update on its Mpyupyu West heavy mineral sands (HMS) discovery, with Phase I resource drilling nearing completion. The outline of the Mpyupyu West prospect has been confirmed, with heavy minerals identified in sand and saprolite units across a 17km2 area. Approximately 80% of the planned 272-hole Phase I program is complete, with mineralisation tested to an average depth of 8 meters. Both drilling rigs will continue operations to commence infill drilling after Phase I. Samples have been sent for assay, with results anticipated in late October, which will inform the company's first Exploration Target. The Mpyupyu West prospect is adjacent to the company's existing Mpyupyu Mineral Resource of 109.6 Mt.
Key Highlights
- Mpyupyu West outline confirmed with heavy minerals in sand and saprolite units across 17km2.
- Depth of mineralisation tested averages 8m; 218 of 272 Phase I holes completed (80%).
- Both sonic rigs remain at Mpyupyu West and will commence infill drilling post-Phase I.
- Consistent stratigraphy observed across the prospect: sand, silty sand, sandy clay, and saprolite.
- First batches of samples shipped for sink-float assay; results expected late October.
- Mpyupyu West adjoins Mpyupyu Mineral Resource of 109.6 Mt at 3.28% THM.
