Indivior Survey: LAI Buprenorphine Reduces MOUD Diversion

Indivior announced survey results published in the Journal of Correctional Health Care, indicating that correctional leaders view long-acting injectable (LAI) buprenorphine as a strategy to reduce diversion of medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) in jails and prisons. The survey, funded by Indivior, found that 88% of jail and 87% of prison professionals believe LAI buprenorphine could help mitigate diversion. However, respondents also highlighted structural barriers to MOUD implementation, including inadequate staffing, limited coordination, cost, and access issues.
