Verizon Announces New 465 Area Code Overlay in NYC Boroughs

Verizon Communications announced the introduction of the new 465 area code as an overlay for telephone numbers in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and Marble Hill section of Manhattan. Beginning June 18, 2026, new lines or services in these areas may be assigned numbers with the 465 area code. This overlay ensures a continuing supply of telephone numbers without requiring existing customers to change their current area code or affecting call prices, coverage, or services. Customers will continue to dial 1+10 digits for local and long-distance calls.
