Bharti Airtel Ltd Fined Rs. 1,04,000 by DoT for Subscriber Verification Norms Violation

Bharti Airtel Ltd has received a notice from the Department of Telecommunications, Maharashtra LSA (DoT) imposing a penalty of Rs. 1,04,000 for alleged violation of subscriber verification norms. The notice was received on April 07, 2026 at IST 1301 Hrs. The violation pertains to the Company's failure to ensure adequate verification of customers before enrolling them as subscribers and comply with the instructions issued by DoT in this regard. DoT conducted a Customer Application Form Audit (CAF Audit) for December, 2025 and has alleged violation of terms and conditions with respect to the subscriber verification norms under the License Agreement. The maximum financial impact of this penalty is to the extent of Rs. 1,04,000. The company has opted not to contest and pay the penalty.
