Hitachi Energy India Ltd Faces INR 35,000 Fine for Customs Regulation Violation

Hitachi Energy India Ltd has been issued a fine of INR 25,000 for failing to comply with the Non Ferrous Metal Import Monitoring System (NFMIMS) regulations. The company submitted the NFMIMS beyond the period prescribed by the Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT). Additionally, a penalty of INR 10,000 was imposed under Section 112(a) of the Customs Act, 1962. The violation was due to an oversight while sharing documents with the customs broker, causing a delay of 13 days in obtaining the NFMIMS registration. The company has been given the option to pay the redemption fine or face confiscation of the goods.
