This approval specifically targets patients with an emergent ESR1 tumour mutation who have not experienced disease progression during initial endocrine therapy. The decision is based on the pivotal SERENA-6 Phase III trial, which demonstrated a significant 56% reduction in the risk of disease progression or death. Etcamah is positioned as the first and only next-generation oral SERD and complete ER antagonist approved in this setting, marking it as the 11th new medicine from AstraZeneca expected to launch by 2030.

AstraZeneca has entered an exclusive global license agreement with Dizal Pharmaceutical for Zegfrovy (sunvozertinib), a novel oral EGFR inhibitor for lung cancer. AstraZeneca will acquire worldwide rights to develop and commercialize Zegfrovy, which is approved in the US and China for locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with EGFR exon 20 insertion mutations. The deal includes an upfront payment of $600 million and up to $900 million in milestone payments, plus tiered royalties. AstraZeneca announced that its CARDIO-TTRansform Phase III trial for Wainua (eplontersen) in patients with transthyretin-mediated amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM) did not meet its primary efficacy endpoint. The primary endpoint was a composite outcome of cardiovascular mortality and recurrent CV clinical events. While Wainua was generally well tolerated, a prespecified subgroup analysis showed a nominally significant benefit in patients on monotherapy, but no effect was observed in those on stabiliser therapy at baseline. AstraZeneca and Ionis will analyze the full data set and present it at the European Society of Cardiology Congress in August 2026.
