China Yuchai International, through its subsidiary Yuchai, has introduced its first high-pressure, direct-injection internal combustion engine capable of operating entirely on ammonia for heavy-duty commercial vehicles. This marks a historic breakthrough in low- and zero-carbon power research, validating key technologies for ammonia-based propulsion. The new engine offers a zero-carbon power solution with thermal efficiency comparable to heavy-duty diesel engines, balancing low lifecycle costs with carbon emission reduction and supporting China's 'Dual Carbon' strategic goals.
