ABB India has partnered with Kolkata Metro to upgrade its urban transit network with advanced electrification and motion control solutions. These solutions, deployed across stations and underground tunnels, aim to enhance efficiency, reliability, and safety, reducing downtime. The 25-year alliance has seen ABB's technology integrated into over 80% of India's metro networks. Specific deployments include low-voltage and medium-voltage switchgear, distribution boards, and variable frequency drives (VFDs) for optimized operations and energy savings. HVAC-dedicated drives contribute to passenger comfort and emergency safety, achieving average energy savings of 25%. This collaboration supports India's push for low-carbon, smart urban transit and aligns with the 'Make in India' initiative.
