Akums, Akumentis Get ₹133.75 Cr Income Tax Assessment Orders

Akums Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Ltd and its subsidiary Akumentis Healthcare Ltd received assessment orders from the Income Tax Department under Section 158BC of the Income Tax Act, 1961, for the block period from April 1, 2018, to March 12, 2025. Akums received a demand of ₹60,09,22,342, while Akumentis received a demand of ₹73,66,10,238, both due to disallowance of expenditures under Section 37(1) of the Act. Both companies plan to appeal the orders, citing that the demands are not sustainable and defendable.
