Antony Waste Handling Cell Ltd has confirmed the tragic loss of nine employees following a natural calamity that damaged the administrative building at its Waste-to-Energy plant. Incessant rains caused a landfill collapse, impacting the building where 23 employees were present. Emergency services responded swiftly, rescuing 14 employees who are receiving medical and psychological support. The company is providing financial assistance of ₹25,00,000 to each bereaved family, covering funeral expenses, and offering employment to a family member. Educational expenses for minor children will also be supported. Operations at the Waste-to-Energy plant are temporarily suspended for safety assessments, though waste collection and transportation remain unaffected. The company is assessing the financial impact and has adequate insurance.
