DGMS Withdraws Blasting Permission for BCCL's NAKC Colliery

The Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS) has withdrawn permission for controlled deep-hole blasting at Bharat Coking Coal Ltd's (BCCL) New Akashkinaree Colliery (NAKC). This follows a land subsidence incident near the colliery, which occurred over abandoned underground workings. DGMS has directed that blasting cannot resume without fresh written permission and compliance with directives from the District Disaster Management Authority, Dhanbad. Operations are halted until a scientific study declares the area safe. BCCL is taking appropriate steps, including conducting technical studies and seeking re-permission.
