Bharti Airtel Fined ₹1.07 Lakhs by DoT for Verification Norms

Bharti Airtel Limited has received a notice from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Maharashtra LSA, imposing a penalty of ₹1,07,000. The penalty is for alleged violations of subscriber verification norms, identified during a Customer Application Form (CAF) Audit for August 2026. The DoT requires telecom operators to ensure adequate customer verification as per the license agreement. Bharti Airtel has decided not to contest the penalty and will pay the amount. The company stated that the maximum financial impact is limited to the penalty levied.
