Bharti Airtel Fined ₹2.2 Lakhs by DoT for Subscriber Verification Lapses

Bharti Airtel Limited has received a notice from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Kerala LSA, imposing a penalty of ₹2,20,000. The penalty is for alleged violations of subscriber verification norms, identified during a Customer Application Form (CAF) Audit for May 2026. The DoT mandates strict verification of customers as per license agreements. Bharti Airtel has decided not to contest the penalty and will proceed with its payment. The company stated that the maximum financial impact is limited to the penalty amount levied.
