Dalmia Bharat Sugar to Invest $132M in Tanzania Sugar Project
Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries Limited has approved the development of an integrated sugar project in Tanzania through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Eagle Agrotech Tanzania Limited (EATL). The project, with an estimated cost of US$132 million, involves establishing sugarcane plantations and a sugar manufacturing unit with a cogeneration facility. This strategic move aims to diversify the company's geographical presence, enter global bio-energy markets, and capitalize on Tanzania's sugar deficit. The initial phase includes a sugar capacity of 70,000 MT per annum, expandable to 150,000 MT, and a 20 MW cogeneration facility, scalable to 40 MW. The company plans to transform the complex into a diversified bio-energy platform.
