GAIL to invest ₹3800 Cr in 700 MW Solar Projects in UP & Maharashtra
GAIL (India) Limited has approved a significant investment of ₹3800 crore to establish 700 MW of solar power projects across Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. This initiative includes a 600 MW solar project with a 550 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at TUSCO Solar Park, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, primarily to meet the captive energy needs of GAIL's Petrochemical Plant at Pata. Additionally, a 100 MW solar project with a 22 MWh BESS will be set up in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra, to serve the captive requirements of GAIL’s PDH-PP Plant at Usar. These projects are crucial for GAIL's Net Zero targets and India's energy transition, ensuring efficient and continuous renewable energy supply through advanced storage systems. Upon commissioning, GAIL's renewable energy capacity will substantially increase from 147 MW to over 1,000 MW, reinforcing its role as an integrated energy major.
