
GRSE Plans ₹2670 Cr Capacity Expansion for Shipbuilding
Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE) is undertaking significant capacity expansion initiatives at its Raichak, Timber Pond, Shalimar, and Damodar facilities. The total capital expenditure for these projects is ₹2670 crore, aimed at strengthening indigenous shipbuilding capabilities, supporting future growth, and enhancing the ability to execute larger and more complex projects. The expansion includes developing Raichak as a shipbuilding hub with an investment of over ₹2,500 crore, rejuvenating the Timber Pond facility for medium-sized shipbuilding and repairs for nearly ₹100 crore, and upgrading the Damodar facility for vessel repairs and construction of small crafts with around ₹70 crore. These initiatives align with the 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' and 'Make in India' vision.
