
Medanta to set up a 400-bed hospital in Varanasi, strengthening its Uttar Pradesh footprint
Global Health Limited (GHL) has approved the establishment of a 400+ bedded hospital in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, through a build to suit development and lease agreement with Shripal Hospitality LLP & Others. The hospital will be operated by Global Health's subsidiary, Global Health Institute of Medical Sciences Foundation. The project is expected to cost Rs. 322 Crores and will be funded through internal accruals or debts. The hospital is expected to be completed within 4 years, subject to necessary approvals. The company will also invest up to Rs. 550 crores in deposit, MEP, Interior fit-outs, medical equipment, and any other associated capex. This move aims to expand healthcare services and meet the growing demand for quality medical care in Varanasi and Eastern Uttar Pradesh, further strengthening Medanta's market positioning in Uttar Pradesh.
