Grasim Industries' Birla Opus Paints Plant at Kharagpur, West Bengal Commences Commercial Production
Grasim Industries Ltd. has announced the commencement of commercial production at its Paints plant located in Kharagpur, West Bengal. The plant, which started its operations on 15th October 2025, has an installed capacity of 180 MLPA for water-based paint, 20 MLPA for Bengal Distemper, and 30 MLPA for solvent-based paint. The resin manufacturing block is yet to be commissioned, and currently, resin is being sourced from other Birla Opus plants for solvent-based paint manufacturing. This development marks the completion of commercial production at all six of the company's green-field plants, thereby increasing the installed capacity of decorative paints sold under the brand 'Birla Opus' to 1,332 MLPA, specifically for catering to the domestic market of the country.
