
Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd Signs Rs 2890 Crore Contract with Ministry of Defence for Dornier Aircraft Upgrade
Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) has announced that the Ministry of Defence signed a contract on March 15, 2024, for the Mid Life Upgrade (MLU) of 25 Dornier Aircraft and associated equipment for the Indian Navy. The MLU includes upgrading Avionics Systems and Primary Role sensors, enhancing operational capability for primary roles such as Maritime Surveillance, Coastal Surveillance, Electronic Intelligence, development of Maritime Domain Awareness, and secondary roles like Search and Rescue, Medical/Casualty Evacuation, and Communication Link. Additionally, the upgrade is projected to generate 1.8 Lakh Man-days of employment during its 6.5-year execution span and significantly contribute to 'Atmanirbharta' and the Make-in-India initiative.
