HOEC Clarifies PY-1 Field Drilling Activities
Hindustan Oil Exploration Company Ltd (HOEC) has issued a clarification regarding media reports on proposed drilling activities in the PY-1 Offshore Field, Cauvery Basin. The company stated that PY-1 is an existing, producing offshore gas field operated by HOEC since 2006. The current proposal involves drilling four additional development wells within the existing field boundaries to restore production levels, not in a new exploration area. These wells will utilize existing infrastructure, including the SUN wellhead platform and subsea pipeline, avoiding the need for new platforms or pipelines. HOEC is pursuing necessary Environmental and CRZ clearances through the statutory process, having submitted its EIA report and responding to regulatory queries. The company highlighted that the existing infrastructure was designed to accommodate additional wells.
