
Hindustan Oil Exploration Company Denies Responsibility for Crude Oil Quality Issue in HPCL Deal
Hindustan Oil Exploration Company Ltd has clarified its position regarding the crude oil sales agreement with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL). The agreement, which was signed on 3 September 2025, involved the offtake and custody transfer of about 54.6 TMT of crude oil on 25 September 2025. However, HPCL has reported high chloride content in the crude oil sample. The Company is currently examining this issue and has stated that no loss or damage or claim is attributable to them in terms of the agreement. They are prepared to engage in discussions with HPCL to redress the issue. It is worth noting that the Company has previously supplied substantial quantities of crude oil from Block B-80 without any quality issues.
