HPCL Commissions World's First LC-Max Unit at Visakh Refinery, Boosting GRMs and Yield

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. has successfully commissioned the Residue Upgradation Facility (RUF) at its 15 MMTPA Visakh Refinery, employing advanced LC-Max based residue hydrocracking technology. The RUF has a capacity of 3.55 MMTPA and achieves about 93% conversion of bottom oils into high-value products. This development enhances the distillate yield by up to 10%, increases the Gross Refining Margins (GRMs), and reduces the gap between HPCL's HSD marketing and refining volumes. The RUF also strengthens the supply chain, drives higher profitability, and improves the Nelson Complexity Index of the Visakh Refinery to 11.6.
