
IEX Achieves 9% YoY Increase in Electricity Traded Volume to 9,622 MU in February'25 & 85% YoY Growth in Green Market
Indian Energy Exchange (IEX), India's premier electricity exchange, achieved a monthly electricity traded volume of 9,622 MU in February'25, marking a 9% increase on a year-on-year basis. The Green Market achieved an 85% growth year on year. A total of 16.37 lakh Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) were traded during the month, marking a 167% year on year increase. The average daily energy consumption in February'25 increased by 7% as compared to average daily energy consumption in February'24. The peak power demand reached 238 GW on 07 February 2025, compared to 222 GW on 23 February 2024. Despite the surge in demand, prices on power exchanges were lower compared to the previous year, owing to higher supply side liquidity in the DAM segment. The Market Clearing Price in the Day Ahead Market (DAM) at Rs. 4.38/unit during February'25, declined 11% YoY.
