Indoco Q2: ₹19.5 Cr profit from one-off gain; core business still loss-making
Indoco Remedies' consolidated Q2 FY27 revenue rose 7.3% YoY to ₹520.17 Cr (+11.3% QoQ), with consolidated PAT swinging to a profit of ₹19.47 Cr versus a ₹9.21 Cr loss a year ago. That headline turnaround is driven entirely by a ₹37.14 Cr exceptional gain (₹36.63 Cr from the sale of the Andheri property, held-for-sale since March 2026, plus ₹0.51 Cr from trademark licensing). Strip that out and the core business posted a pre-tax loss of ₹12.95 Cr before exceptional items and tax — barely changed from the ₹13.00 Cr core loss in Q2 FY26 (adjusted YoY change: roughly flat, +0.4% narrower; the tax effect of the one-off isn't separately disclosed so this comparison is pre-tax). No Q2 FY27-specific Street estimate could be located; the only analyst reference found is a full-year FY27 consensus (~₹2,120 Cr revenue, ~₹5.60 EPS), which isn't a quarterly preview and isn't used to grade this print. EBITDA margin was 9.2% (₹46.4 Cr) versus 9.1% a year ago — essentially flat, not the sequential margin expansion management flagged on the Q1 FY27 call ("margins expected to improve quarter-on-quarter"); the ex-exceptional operating picture barely moved QoQ either. Revenue growth of 7.3% YoY (7.8% for H1, per the press release) also trails the 12-15% sales CAGR management is targeting. Debt was cut by roughly ₹60 Cr in H1 against the full-year ₹110 Cr reduction goal — about 55% there with two quarters left, broadly on pace. Capex, however, has already hit ₹60.5 Cr in H1 against management's own FY27 ceiling of ≤₹40 Cr, an overshoot worth flagging against the stated capital discipline. The bright spot management called out is the regulated international formulations business, up 21.1% YoY in the quarter, with API (+22% H1) and Allied Services (+27.4% H1) also running ahead — consistent with the UK MHRA's inspection of the Goa facility concluding without critical observations in September 2026, which de-risks that export pipeline. Standalone PAT of ₹30.63 Cr diverges sharply from consolidated ₹19.47 Cr (equity-holder share ₹18.38 Cr): the gap is almost entirely two subsidiaries — Warren Remedies Pvt Ltd posted an ₹18.20 Cr net loss this quarter (₹37.40 Cr for H1) and FPP Holding LLC a ₹7.28 Cr profit, but both carry negative net worth, prompting auditors to flag a "material uncertainty" going-concern emphasis of matter, though no impairment was taken since management's recoverability assessment showed no shortfall. Indoco also incorporated a new wholly owned subsidiary, Warren Lifesciences, on 26 September 2026, too recent to move this quarter's numbers. Management framed the quarter as reflecting "continued focus on improved business performance along with strengthening operational efficiency" under its "New Indoco – 80 Years Forward" positioning — a characterization the flat margins and core pre-tax loss only partly support. Three things to track into Q3 FY27: whether the COGS inflation management flagged as spilling into Q3 compresses margins further, whether capex is reined in toward the ≤₹40 Cr FY27 ceiling already breached in H1, and whether H2 debt paydown closes the remaining ~₹50 Cr gap to the ₹110 Cr full-year target.
