
Infosys Foundation USA Joins Forces With Congressional App Challenge To Champion STEM Education Across The U.S.
Infosys Foundation USA, a non-profit organization dedicated to expanding computer science, maker, and STEM education, has become a sponsor of The Congressional App Challenge. The Challenge is an official initiative of the U.S. House of Representatives that encourages middle school and high school students to learn to code and inspires them to pursue careers in computer science. The Foundation's commitment to increasing diversity and equity in computer science education aligns with the Challenge's mission to reach under-represented communities. In 2023, the Challenge saw record high participation with 374 members of Congress representing all 50 states hosting app challenges for 11,334 students, nearly 40% of whom were girls and around 25% were Black, Hispanic or Native Americans. The Challenge has demonstrated remarkable results, with 80% of its alumni studying STEM fields in college. The 2024 Challenge, which was launched on May ‘st, aims to deliver the most impactful and inclusive program yet.
