Jio Financial Q2: consolidated PAT falls 51% YoY to ₹340 Cr as dividend income dries up
Jio Financial Services' consolidated PAT fell 51% YoY and 59% QoQ to ₹340 Cr for Q2 FY27, even as consolidated total income rose 73% YoY to ₹1,699 Cr. The decline runs counter to the revenue trend because last year's and last quarter's profit were inflated by dividend income from group investments — ₹269 Cr in Q2 FY26 and ₹509 Cr in Q1 FY27 — that was nil this quarter. Consolidated NPM compressed to roughly 20% from 69.3% a year ago and 41.4% last quarter, a mix effect from the income composition rather than a deterioration in the operating business. Standalone (parent-only) PAT was ₹575 Cr for the quarter, well above the consolidated ₹340 Cr, because the standalone entity still booked ₹445 Cr of intercompany dividend received from subsidiaries that is eliminated on consolidation. Consolidated is the number that reflects the group's actual earnings and is the primary read here; the two bases diverge sharply this quarter purely on that elimination, not on any difference in underlying performance. Stripped of the dividend-income swing, the core franchises scaled broadly in line with management's prior concall guidance (reaffirmed "secular growth across all businesses," profitable scaling in lending and payments): PPOP ex-dividend grew 85% YoY to ₹574 Cr and PBT ex-dividend grew 51% YoY to ₹489 Cr, both disclosed by management itself in the results release. Jio Credit (the NBFC) delivered PAT of ₹120 Cr, up 140% YoY, on AUM up 154% YoY to ₹37,320 Cr, and the consolidated Lending segment's PAT rose 95% YoY / 39% QoQ to ₹148 Cr — the lending scale-up management guided to is visible in the numbers, so that part of guidance was met. Payments is the exception: the consolidated "Others" segment (payments, insurance broking, payments bank) stayed loss-making, with the segment loss widening to ₹46.2 Cr from ₹36.1 Cr QoQ even as JPBL income grew 213% YoY and JPSL fee income grew 70% YoY — the segment-level "operational turnaround" management flagged for payments last quarter hasn't shown up in the consolidated P&L yet. No specific brokerage consensus PAT estimate for this quarter turned up in search, so the print's standing versus Street is unknown; the most recent public reference points are Q1 FY27 coverage and Motilal Oswal's standing FY27-28 consolidated PAT CAGR estimate of 46%, both pre-dating this print. The quarter also carried a large non-P&L item: an ₹8,830 Cr unrealized mark-to-market loss on equity investments ran through Other Comprehensive Income, pulling total comprehensive loss to ₹7,227 Cr for the quarter — this does not touch reported PAT but is a large balance-sheet swing worth flagging. On the corporate-action side, Bank of America's August 12 agreement to acquire up to 49.9% of Jio Credit and the ₹375 Cr half-year equity infusion into the new Allianz general-insurance JV (JAGIL) both point to the partnership-led scale-up management described in its commentary ("key global partnerships... now visibly taking shape").
