JSW Energy Subsidiaries Challenge HP Land Revenue Act

JSW Hydro Energy Limited and JSW Energy (Kutehr) Limited, step-down subsidiaries of JSW Energy, have filed writ petitions in the Himachal Pradesh High Court. They are challenging the constitutional validity of the Himachal Pradesh Land Revenue (Amendment) Act, 2025, and related rules, which levy land revenue based on the "Average Market Value" of hydroelectric projects. Other companies with hydropower plants in Himachal Pradesh have filed similar petitions. JSW Energy believes the levy is unconstitutional as it is a charge on electricity generation infrastructure, not land.
