KFin Q2 FY27: Revenue +30% YoY on Ascent, but Consolidated PAT Growth Lags at +7.5%
KFin Technologies' consolidated revenue rose 29.9% YoY to ₹401.8 Cr (up 12.7% QoQ from ₹356.5 Cr), comfortably ahead of the ₹370-380 Cr range our pre-result preview flagged. Consolidated PAT of ₹100.3 Cr beat the previewed ₹85-95 Cr band and grew 33.4% QoQ from ₹75.2 Cr, but YoY growth was just 7.5% against ₹93.3 Cr a year ago — profit trailing revenue growth by over 22 points. EPS was ₹5.80 basic versus ₹5.42 a year ago. The standalone entity (core RTA and issuer-solutions business, unaffected by the Ascent acquisition) told a cleaner story: revenue grew 10.5% YoY to ₹328.6 Cr and PAT grew 16.2% YoY to ₹105.8 Cr — the gap between standalone (+16.2%) and consolidated (+7.5%) PAT growth is Ascent Fund Services diluting the group number. Operating margin (OPM) was 40.08% this quarter, a sharp recovery from 34.21% in Q1 FY27 — consistent with management's own guidance that "cost optimisation benefits" would be "visible from Q2 onwards" — but still down from 43.88% a year ago. Net margin followed the same shape: 24.47% versus 20.50% in Q1 (QoQ expansion) but below 29.16% a year ago (YoY compression). The YoY squeeze traces to purchase-accounting effects from Ascent: consolidated D&A of ₹28.4 Cr runs roughly ₹10 Cr above the standalone-only ₹18.4 Cr, reflecting amortisation on the ₹28.8 Cr of incremental intangibles and goodwill added versus the standalone balance sheet, while consolidated finance costs rose 45.6% YoY (₹1.58 Cr vs ₹1.09 Cr) on acquisition-related lease liabilities. Group EBITDA (on this basis) grew 18.7% YoY to ₹161.0 Cr from ₹135.7 Cr — inside management's guided 17-20% band — which is why the PAT shortfall sits below the operating line, not in the core business. Segment-wise, international and other investor solutions (where Ascent sits) revenue jumped to ₹111.0 Cr from ₹43.1 Cr a year ago, since Ascent was acquired after the Sep-2025 quarter closed and is only now in the base; domestic mutual fund investor solutions, the core RTA book, grew a steadier 7.7% YoY to ₹234.6 Cr, and issuer solutions grew 16.4% YoY to ₹56.2 Cr. Against the Street setup going into the print — a Strong Buy consensus, fair value ₹1,255 versus a ₹872.55 price, with the debate centred on whether margin recovery and Ascent execution would show up — this quarter clears that bar on revenue, margin and PAT. The board also carried forward items flagged pre-result: Srinivas Yadav Karri's elevation to Group CISO (Oct 16) and the Chairperson's retirement (Sep 30), alongside a separately disclosed ₹9.3 Cr provision (as at Sep 30, 2026) for a legacy client share-transfer/escrow dispute (Note 3) — a contingent legal item, not booked as an exceptional item in the P&L. Against management's upgraded FY27 guidance — revenue CAGR 18-20%, EBITDA margin 40-45% (40% threshold by year-end), PAT growth 12-15%, EBITDA growth 17-20% — the quarter is mixed: EBITDA growth (+18.7% YoY) sits inside the guided band and the 40% margin threshold was crossed a quarter early, but PAT growth at +7.5% YoY still falls short of the 12-15% range, with the gap explained by acquisition-related D&A and finance costs rather than any operating shortfall. The marker for Q3 FY27 is whether PAT growth converges toward guidance as the sequential margin recovery (OPM +587 bps QoQ, NPM +397 bps QoQ) carries forward and Ascent's integration costs normalise.
Key Highlights
- Consolidated revenue ₹401.8 Cr, +29.9% YoY / +12.7% QoQ — beat the pre-result ₹370-380 Cr range, driven by full consolidation of Ascent Fund Services (international segment +158% YoY to ₹111.0 Cr)

- OPM 40.08% this quarter, up from 34.21% in Q1 FY27 (cost-optimisation benefits management flagged 'from Q2 onwards') but down from 43.88% a year ago — crosses the 40% EBITDA-margin threshold guided for year-end, a quarter early
