Kirloskar Pneumatic Q2 FY27: PAT -8.7% YoY (-28% adj.), margin misses 18-20% guidance
Kirloskar Pneumatic's consolidated revenue from operations fell 15.6% YoY to ₹326.3 Cr (from ₹386.4 Cr), even as it rose 7.6% QoQ from ₹303.1 Cr; H1 FY27 revenue of ₹629.4 Cr is down 5.8% YoY, running well behind management's own 20%+ full-year growth guidance from the Q4 FY26 concall. Reported consolidated PAT of ₹40.0 Cr fell a milder 8.7% YoY, but that figure is flattered by a ₹11.04 Cr pre-tax exceptional gain from selling 7,200 sqm of company land at Nashik to the Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation for the proposed Ring Road project — the same land sale flagged in our pre-result preview as a potential one-time upside. Stripping it out, operational PBT (ex-exceptional) was ₹39.5 Cr, down 31.2% YoY from ₹57.4 Cr, and adjusted PAT is down roughly 28.6% YoY — the underlying trend is a steep decline, not the modest single-digit dip the headline PAT suggests. The compression sits squarely on the operating line. EBITDA margin (OPM) fell to 12.5% of revenue from 15.1% a year ago and 15.0% last quarter, well short of the 18-20% "healthy and sustainable" EBITDA band management guided for FY27 after flagging that FY26's exceptional margins wouldn't repeat — this quarter shows normalization has gone further than guided. Reported net margin held up at 12.0% (vs 11.1% YoY) only because the land-sale gain sits below the operating line; adjusted for it, net margin is closer to 9.4%, down from 11.1% a year ago. Segment data shows the core Compression Systems segment's own pre-tax result slipped to ₹61.5 Cr from ₹71.0 Cr YoY, confirming the core business — not the newly consolidated units — drove the decline. Against pre-result expectations, the print was roughly in line to slightly ahead on revenue (₹326.3 Cr consolidated, ₹319.7 Cr standalone, vs an on-plan ~₹315 Cr) but at or just below the low end on profitability (PBT ₹50.5 Cr vs an expected ₹51-55 Cr band). We found no Street estimate specific to Q2 FY27; the closest available consensus is a FY27 full-year estimate (sales ~₹2,097 Cr, EBITDA ~₹377.5 Cr implying an ~18% margin, PAT ~₹279 Cr) that itself assumes margins near management's guided band — this quarter's 12.5% OPM runs well behind that pace, and H1 revenue is just 30% of the FY27 estimate versus 37% of FY26's actual full-year total a year earlier, implying a back-loaded H2 is now needed. The quarter also saw the Board approve allotment of 9,700 ESOP shares (part of 43,500 allotted in H1) and completion of the 1:2 share sub-division on record date August 18, 2026; consolidation now includes KSEA (99.49% stake, acquired August 3, 2026 for ~₹49.45 Mn) and SCIPL (100%, acquired May 4, 2026), though their combined effect on this quarter's numbers is small — consolidated revenue and PAT exceed standalone by only ₹6.6 Cr and ₹0.2 Cr. No separate management press release or MD&A commentary was available in this filing — only the regulatory board-outcome letter and the financial statements/notes — so there is no additional company framing of the quarter to cross-check against the numbers. With H1 revenue down YoY and core-segment profitability down over 30% YoY ex the land gain, the quarter confirms a cautious read on the "cautiously optimistic" short-term outlook management set out last quarter, and raises the bar for H2 to deliver the 20%+ full-year revenue growth and 18-20% margin band guided at the start of FY27 — neither of which has been evidenced through the first half.
