
Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences Expands to Kerala, Plans to Develop 3000 Beds in 5 Years
Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) Hospitals, one of India's largest corporate healthcare chains, has announced its expansion into Kerala. The group plans to develop new medical facilities and acquire 3000 beds in the state over the next five years, which could potentially create 10,000 jobs. KIMS Hospitals, which currently has a presence in five states with over 16 hospitals and 5000 beds, has already begun operations in Kerala by taking over Sreechand Hospital in Kannur and entering into an O&M contract with Westfort Hospital at Thrissur. The group plans to establish new hospitals in Kochi and Kozhikode, each with 800-bed capacities, and set up a fully equipped oncology and transplant centre in Kannur, along with a 350-bed hospital in Thrissur dedicated to advanced transplant services. KIMS also plans to acquire hospitals in Calicut and Trivandrum, with an aim to have a hospital in every district of Kerala in the distant future.
