Mahindra Industrial Park Chennai & Sumitomo Corporation Sign Strategic Cooperation Agreement with Osaka Government to Support Japanese Businesses Entering India
Mahindra Industrial Park Chennai Limited (MIPCL), a subsidiary of Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd, and its 40% stakeholder and marketing arm in Japan, Sumitomo Corporation, have signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Osaka Prefecture and the Osaka Industrial Development Bureau. This partnership aims to support Osaka-based companies in expanding their footprint in India, positioning Tamil Nadu as a preferred destination for Japanese industry. MIPCL and Sumitomo Corporation will act as local facilitators for Osaka-based companies, providing business visit support, on-ground consultation, and participating in knowledge-sharing seminars in Osaka. The Osaka authorities will identify and recommend companies interested in expanding into India. India's projected GDP growth of 6.3% in FY2025 and Chennai's strong port connectivity, ease of access to Southeast Asia, and growing presence of automotive, electronics, and semiconductor companies make it an attractive destination for international business. Origins by Mahindra, Chennai, which already hosts six clients from Japan, will play a key role in helping Japanese firms navigate regulatory frameworks, secure land and utilities, and scale up operations with confidence.
