Maruti Suzuki Opens 4th Plant in Gujarat, Capacity Hits 2.9M Units

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd has commenced commercial production at its fourth plant in Hansalpur, Gujarat, effective July 30, 2026. This new plant adds 250,000 units per annum capacity, bringing the total annual production capacity to 2.9 million units. The Hansalpur facility now has a capacity of 1 million units per annum, making it Suzuki's largest manufacturing facility globally at a single location and India's largest passenger vehicle manufacturing facility. The new plant will initially produce the e VITARA electric vehicle. The cumulative investment at the Hansalpur facility is INR 252,887 million, with INR 39,000 million invested in the new Plant D. This expansion supports Maruti Suzuki's vision to produce 4 million units annually in India and contributes to its 'Make in India, Make for the World' strategy.
