
Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Delivers Sixth Scorpene Class Submarine 'Vaghsheer' to Indian Navy
Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL) has delivered the Sixth Scorpene Class Submarine 'Vaghsheer' to the Indian Navy, marking a significant milestone in the nation's submarine building capabilities. The submarine, which was launched on 20 April 2022, has undergone a series of comprehensive tests and trials for over a year. 'Vaghsheer' is capable of operating in all modes and regimes of deployment and can launch precision guided weapons. It is equipped with advanced acoustic absorption techniques, low radiated noise levels, and a hydro-dynamically optimized shape, making it a stealthy and potent platform. The submarine is designed to undertake various types of missions and can operate in all theatres of operation. It boasts a high level of automation with a sophisticated Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS) and a Combat Management System (CMS). Notably, 'Vaghsheer' is fitted with indigenously developed systems such as an Air Conditioning Plant, Internal Communication & Broadcast System, Main Batteries, and Ku-Band SATCOM (Rukmini).
