MDL Commences Production of First Fast Patrol Vessel and Second Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessel for ICG

Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL), a Navratna DPSU, has started the production activity for the first Fast Patrol Vessel (FPV) of 14 FPVs project for Indian Coast Guard (ICG). The plate cutting ceremony of the first FPV and second Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessel (NGOPV) was held on 19th Dec 2024. MDL has signed a contract with ICG to design, build, and deliver a total of Fourteen (14) Fast Patrol Vessels, valued at Rs 1070.47 crores. Each FPV is equipped with a waterjet propulsion, high-speed diesel engine, and designed to meet contractual speed in excess of 33 knots. The FPVs will be used for patrolling coastal waters and protection of fisheries. Additionally, MDL has signed a contract to design, build and deliver a total of Six (06) Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessels, valued at Rs. 1614.89 crores. The first FPV is scheduled for delivery in Mar 2026, and the first NGOPV is scheduled for delivery in Jul 2027.
