NALCO, NLCIL Sign JV for 1,080 MW Thermal Power Plant

National Aluminium Company Ltd (NALCO) has signed a Joint Venture Agreement with NLC India Limited (NLCIL) to establish a Joint Venture Company (JVC) for a 1,080 MW Thermal Captive Power Plant at Angul, Odisha. The JVC will be incorporated on a 50:50 equity basis. This plant is intended to meet the captive power requirements for NALCO's 0.5 MTPA Aluminium Smelter Expansion Project. The agreement also explores long-term arrangements for renewable energy and coal supply. Both NALCO and NLCIL are Government Companies under different ministries.
