Nitta Gelatin Assesses Impact of Revised SION Norms

Nitta Gelatin India Ltd is evaluating the operational, regulatory, and financial consequences of revised Standard Input Output Norms (SION) for Gelatin and Ossein, issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT). The norms reduce the permissible input-output ratio for Gelatin from 7.35 MT to 3.92 MT of gel bones per MT of Gelatine, and set the norm for Ossein at 2.24 MT of gel bones per MT of Ossein. The company is consulting with industry bodies and considering representations to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry for reconsideration of these norms, which significantly impact its key raw material usage.
