Prime Minister Inaugurates Two Major Pipeline Projects of OIL India, Capacity Enhanced and Employment Generated

Oil India limited witnessed a significant event on March 9, 2024, as the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, inaugurated two flagship pipeline projects of the company in Jorhat, Assam. The 756 km Barauni-Bongaigaon-Guwahati sector of the Naharkatiya-Barauni Crude Oil Pipeline was upgraded to a pumping capacity of 3 MMTPA, and the Duliajan to Digboi pipeline was replaced with a new cathodic protection system and optical fibre communication-based network, enhancing the capacity of the Digboi refinery from 0.65 MMTPA to 1MMTPA. Both projects were completed at a budgeted project cost of Rs. 623 Crore and contributed significantly to the employment sector with nearly 50,000 man-days. These projects, as the Prime Minister pointed out, have the potential to significantly bolster the socio-economic landscape of the state, fostering its overall development and prosperity.
