Oriental Hotels Q2 FY27: Consolidated PAT +7.9% YoY to ₹8.59 Cr, margins mixed
Oriental Hotels' consolidated PAT rose 7.9% YoY to ₹8.59 Cr on revenue of ₹117.75 Cr (+6.6% YoY), with EPS at ₹0.48 against ₹0.45 a year ago. Standalone tells a different story: standalone PAT fell 8.2% YoY to ₹11.62 Cr from ₹12.66 Cr, even as standalone revenue grew 6.5% YoY to ₹116.80 Cr — the two bases diverge by well over 15 percentage points of growth this quarter, so the consolidated headline shouldn't be read as the parent business accelerating. The gap is explained by the Group's joint venture, TAL Hotels & Resorts: its loss narrowed to ₹2.69 Cr this quarter from ₹4.34 Cr a year ago, a ₹1.65 Cr favourable swing that alone exceeds the entire YoY increase in consolidated PAT. Strip that out and the parent-plus-subsidiary profit (before JV/associate shares) actually fell 7.5% YoY to ₹11.77 Cr from ₹12.73 Cr. The quarter also carries a ₹0.70 Cr exceptional charge for IHCL-merger transaction costs that wasn't present a year ago; excluding it, adjusted consolidated PAT growth is closer to ~14.6% YoY (₹9.12 Cr adjusted vs ₹7.96 Cr), still short of the 24% revenue-margin lift implied by the reported number. On margins, the core operating metric (EBITDA margin on revenue from operations, excluding other income) compressed to 23.03% from 23.82% a year ago, even though net profit margin ticked up to 7.26% from 6.90% — the NPM improvement is a function of the smaller JV drag, not better underlying profitability. Sequentially, both revenue (+5.6%) and PAT (+62%) look strong against Q1 FY27, but Q1 was a seasonally soft base for a single-market hotel portfolio and the QoQ jump shouldn't be read as momentum. No brokerage consensus or prior company guidance for this quarter could be found, and no separate management press commentary accompanied the regulatory filing beyond the standard cover letter — so vsStreet and vsGuidance stay unresolved rather than invented. The dominant corporate event of the quarter remains the proposed amalgamation of Oriental Hotels into The Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), approved by the OHL board on August 24, 2026 and still pending NCLT, shareholder and regulatory sign-off; this quarter's exceptional item is the first visible cost of that process. Going into Q3 FY27, the two swing factors to track are the IHCL scheme's approval timeline and whether the TAL JV's loss keeps narrowing — both were the main movers of this quarter's consolidated bottom line, more than the underlying hotel business itself.
