Reliance Power Subsidiary Wins 930MW Solar Energy Contract with 465 MW/1860 MWh Battery Energy Storage System
Reliance Power Limited's subsidiary, Reliance NU Suntech Private Limited, has received a Letter of Award from Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for a 930 MW solar energy project and a 465 MW/1860 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project. This is India's single largest project of solar and battery storage system. The project will see the largest deployment of grid storage batteries at a single site in Asia, besides China. Reliance NU Suntech won the contract in an e-reverse auction held on 9th December 2024. The company will also install a minimum storage capacity of 465 MW/1,860 MWh charged by solar power. SECI will enter into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Reliance NU Suntech for a period of 25 years and the solar power procured will be sold to multiple discoms in India.
