Reliance to Invest Rs. 65,000 crores in 500 CBG Plants in Andhra Pradesh

Reliance Industries Limited, India's largest private sector company, is planning to invest Rs. 65,000 crores in developing 500 Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) plants in Andhra Pradesh. The first plant, with a capital investment of Rs. 139 crores, was laid by Andhra Pradesh IT & Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh at Kanigiri in Prakasam district. The project will utilise Napier grass grown on barren and waste lands, resulting in significant livelihood to the rural economy. Once fully operational, the plants will produce 40 lakh tonne of green, clean CBG and 1.1 million metric tonnes of organic fertiliser annually, creating 250,000 jobs for rural youth. The initiative is expected to transform 15 lakh acres of barren land into fertile farmland, boosting farmer incomes.
