Repro India: ₹4.75 Cr loss in Q2 FY27 despite 66% YoY revenue growth; deferred tax bites
Repro India's consolidated bottom line swung back to a loss of ₹4.75 Cr in Q2 FY27, even as consolidated revenue grew 65.7% YoY to ₹178.62 Cr (from ₹107.78 Cr) and 27.7% QoQ (from ₹139.91 Cr). On a reported basis the YoY loss narrowed from ₹20.06 Cr a year ago, but that comparison is distorted by one-offs on both sides: the current quarter carries no exceptional items, while Q2 FY26 absorbed an ₹18.05 Cr one-time Mahape-site employee settlement expense. Stripping that out, adjusted PAT loss actually widened to ₹4.75 Cr from an adjusted ₹2.01 Cr a year ago — roughly a 136% deterioration — because pretax operating performance was flat YoY (-₹2.32 Cr vs an adjusted -₹1.99 Cr) while a ₹2.43 Cr deferred tax charge was booked this quarter against near-nil tax in the year-ago period. Sequentially, the swing from Q1 FY27's reported ₹128.56 Cr profit to this quarter's loss is almost entirely mechanical: Q1's number was inflated by a ₹167.29 Cr one-off gain on the assignment of the company's Mahape leasehold rights to STT Global Data Centres for ₹282 Cr total consideration. Excluding that gain, Q1's underlying pretax loss was ₹7.26 Cr, versus ₹2.32 Cr this quarter — so on an underlying, ex-exceptional basis the operating loss actually narrowed QoQ even as the headline flipped from profit to loss. We found no analyst consensus or brokerage preview for this specific quarter, so vs-street is unknown; management has not issued formal numeric guidance for Q2 FY27 either — the only forward commentary on record (from the FY26 annual print) was a directional comment that the digital/long-run vertical would see double-digit growth in FY27, which this filing does not break out by segment (the group reports a single value-added print solutions segment under Ind AS 108). No management press release accompanied this filing. The quarter also saw standalone and consolidated figures diverge sharply — standalone revenue of ₹58.49 Cr (loss ₹6.13 Cr) is a third of consolidated revenue of ₹178.62 Cr, confirming the bulk of group operations now sits in subsidiaries, including two added this quarter: Repro Books Inc. (USA, incorporated August 28, 2026) and Repro LLC (UAE, acquired October 6, 2026). The quarter also saw CFO Abhinav Vohra's resignation (effective December 31, 2026), announced September 28, 2026. Going into H2 FY27, the balance sheet carries the proceeds of the Mahape sale — borrowings were paid down from ₹16,597 lakhs to ₹1,061 lakhs consolidated and cash generated from operations for the half year was ₹20,134 lakhs, largely a one-time effect of the land-sale inflow rather than core-business cash generation.
