SRF Ltd fined ₹12.77 Lakhs by Uttarakhand Tax Officer

SRF Ltd has been ordered to pay a penalty of ₹12,77,382 by the State Tax Officer, Uttarakhand. The penalty arises from an alleged mismatch between the Delivery Challan and E-way Bill, where the tax amount was inadvertently reflected as Nil in the Delivery Challan, despite the E-way Bill correctly showing the GST amount. The company states this was a clerical oversight and that the applicable GST had already been discharged through the tax invoice. SRF Ltd paid the penalty under protest and intends to contest the demand, viewing it as legally untenable due to a procedural error with no additional tax liability or loss of revenue to the government.
