Universal Cables Ltd. Faces Countervailing Duty (CVD) & Anti-Dumping Duty on Optical Fibre Cables Exports to European Union

Universal Cables Ltd. has received communication from the European Commission regarding the implementation of Regulation (EU) 2025/1135, imposing a definitive Countervailing Duty (CVD) and amending the anti-dumping duty on imports of optical fibre cables originating in India. The CVD of 5.40% of CIF Union border price will be imposed on the exports of single mode optical fibre cables by the Company to European Union. The anti-dumping duty, which was earlier determined at 6.90%, has now been reduced to 2.90% based on the Company's representation and submissions. Consequently, a combined CVD and anti-dumping duty of 8.30% will be imposed on the exports of single mode optical fibre cables by the Company to European Union. The financial impact of this decision on the Company's operations and other activities is currently unascertainable.
