VA Tech Wabag Wins Large Order for Vienna Water Works Expansion
VA Tech Wabag Ltd (WABAG) has secured a 'Large' order from the City of Vienna for the expansion of the Donauinsel Water Works. This project, a key part of Vienna's "Wiener Wasser 2050" strategy, aims to enhance the city's drinking water supply with a capacity of up to 1,000 litres per second (86 MLD). WABAG will manage the complete technology package, including process engineering, electrical, instrumentation, and building services, utilizing a multi-barrier treatment process. The expansion is crucial for securing Vienna's long-term water supply, addressing growing demand, climate change challenges, and strengthening the resilience of its water system. The project is scheduled for completion by 2030 and represents a significant reference for WABAG in Austria and its strategic focus on the European market.
