VA Tech WABAG Wins USD 49 Million DBO Order from KUKL for Three Wastewater Treatment Plants in Nepal
VA Tech WABAG, a leading water technology company, has secured a repeat order worth about USD 49 Million from Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL) for the design, build, and operate (DBO) of three wastewater treatment plants in Nepal. Funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), these plants are expected to treat approximately 69 Million Liters per Day (MLD) of waste water and will operate for 24 months followed by a five-year maintenance period. VA Tech WABAG's strong track record with KUKL and a superior technical bid were key factors in securing this order. Once completed, these plants will significantly reduce the ingression of untreated waste water into the Bagmati, Manohara, and Hanumante rivers, restoring water quality and improving the eco-system. The project also includes the generation of green fuel (biogas) through activated sludge treatment, which will produce green energy to be used in operation.
