A stock that jumps 10% usually has a reason you can point to — an order win, a results beat, a block deal. On Monday, five small and mid caps jumped 8–17% on volumes between 9 and 21 times their normal day, and for four of them, there is no reason on the public record. This report is simply what that check found — and didn't find.

What we checked

Stock by stock

  • MUNJALAU+10.01%16.8× volume

The most notable of the five. This is Munjal Auto's second ~10% surge in six days. After the July 1 spike, the exchange formally queried the company — and on July 2 Munjal Auto filed a reply stating it knows of no information or event explaining the move. Four days later it rose 10% again. Its last quarter was a loss.

Found: nothing — company itself denies knowledge (filing linked below)

  • DIGITIDE+16.89%18.3× volume

The biggest mover of the group, and the second surge in a week. Its two filings this month: a ₹19.76 crore income-tax refund (July 1) and a routine ESOP grant (July 6). Neither is the kind of event that produces +17% on 18× volume.

Found: routine filings only, nothing sized to the move

  • DALMIASUG+8.65%21.2× volume

The one with a visible driver — but not a filed one. Sugar stocks rose 4–14% across the board on media reports that the government is considering a hike in sugar's minimum selling price. No DFPD notification exists yet; the company itself filed nothing. Its AGM on July 10 is the first place management can address it.

Found: unconfirmed sector-wide rumor, no company filing

To be clear about what this report does not say: it does not allege manipulation or insider activity by anyone. Unexplained moves sometimes get their explanation later. The point is narrower: as of tonight, no public information supports these prices.

What to watch

How each one resolves

  • Delivery data

Tuesday's exchange delivery percentages. High delivery suggests positions taken home; low delivery points to intraday speculation likely to reverse.

  • DALMIASUG AGM, Jul 10

    DALMIASUG

First management commentary on the MSP question — the validation test for the whole sugar move.

  • Q1 results

All five report in the coming weeks. If strong numbers follow the surges, the moves will retroactively look informed.
