Jindal Saw's consolidated (primary) print for Q2 FY27 shows revenue of ₹4,471.79 Cr, up 5.6% YoY (₹4,233.60 Cr) and roughly flat QoQ (+0.4% vs ₹4,452.31 Cr), but profitability collapsed well before tax: pre-tax profit fell to ₹14.42 Cr from ₹182.57 Cr a year ago. Reported PAT of ₹35.28 Cr (-74.5% YoY, -61.1% QoQ) looks less severe only because of a ₹26.67 Cr one-off tax credit tied to an appellate ruling on earlier-years claims (Note 3) — stripping that out, underlying consolidated PAT was only ~₹8.6 Cr, down roughly 94% YoY. Standalone PAT, by contrast, held up far better at ₹70.69 Cr (-10.9% YoY), so the Group number is meaningfully worse than the standalone story: subsidiaries posted a combined net loss of ₹14.93 Cr for the quarter and joint ventures added a further ₹3.42 Cr share of loss, both dragging the consolidated line down. Net profit margin compressed to 0.78% from 3.25% YoY and 2.03% QoQ, and the company's own reported operating margin fell to 2.04% from 7.47% YoY and 5.34% QoQ — the squeeze sits on the operating line (cost of materials and other expenses absorbed more of revenue), not just on tax or one-offs.
Q2 FY-2027 vs prior quarters
Against our pre-result preview, revenue came in above the ₹3,850–3,950 Cr expectation range (on a standalone-comparable basis) but PAT missed badly against the ₹120–180 Cr expected, whichever basis is used (₹35.3 Cr consolidated or ₹70.7 Cr standalone) — a clear street miss on the bottom line even as the top line held up. The FY27 Street consensus referenced pre-result (2.7% revenue growth, -8.9% profit decline for the year, thin two-analyst coverage) is directionally consistent with this weak print. On management's prior guidance from the Q1 FY27 concall — near-term volumes similar to FY26 with improvement expected in the second half of FY27 as facility utilisation and order-book execution kick in — this quarter is still within H1 FY27, so the guided recovery checkpoint hasn't technically arrived; however, the further sequential margin compression (OPM 2.04% vs 5.34% in Q1) cuts against the 'cautiously optimistic' tone management struck in July, and H2 FY27 is now the real test of that call. No standalone press release or management commentary accompanied this filing beyond the SEBI intimation and statutory notes, so there is no fresh management framing to reconcile against the numbers this quarter.
The stock went into the print at ₹301.95, up 7.4% over the past month of trading.
What the summary numbers don't show
EPS: consolidated ₹0.74 (vs ₹2.38 YoY, ₹1.63 QoQ) — standalone ₹1.11 (vs ₹1.24 YoY, ₹1.72 QoQ)
Management anticipates near-term volume performance to remain similar to FY26 due to ongoing geopolitical challenges in the MENA region and slower domestic water infrastructure spending. However, they project an improvement in the second half of FY27 as the company optimizes facility utilization and executes on its lar
The quarter's other disclosed developments tie directly into the print: the company closed its trading window on September 29, 2026 ahead of this result, and the board met on October 9 to schedule the October 16 results approval — both procedural and non-numerical. The more consequential disclosure is the ongoing JITF Limited (subsidiary) appeal before the Delhi High Court's divisional bench over a ₹1,891.08 Cr arbitral award; the bench delivered a split verdict, now referred to a third judge, and auditors flagged it as an emphasis-of-matter in both standalone and consolidated reviews without qualifying their opinion. This litigation overhang, together with the ₹14.93 Cr quarterly subsidiary losses, is the structural reason the consolidated and standalone numbers diverge so much this quarter.
