Whirlpool of India's Q1 FY27 (quarter ended June 30, 2026) consolidated print showed revenue of ₹2,726.75 Cr, up 12.1% YoY and 25.0% QoQ (the QoQ jump reflects seasonal appliance demand against a soft March quarter and shouldn't be read as a trend inflection), while consolidated profit for the period fell 29.6% YoY to ₹102.88 Cr, even as it rose 27.8% QoQ off Q4's depressed base. Revenue undershot the Street: the average brokerage estimate (Informist poll of four brokerages, standalone basis) was ~₹2,680 Cr, against actual standalone revenue of ₹2,582.42 Cr; standalone PAT of ₹89.16 Cr came in well below the ~₹129 Cr average estimate (range ₹105–155 Cr) — a clear miss on profitability that continues, rather than reverses, the ~29% YoY PBT decline flagged in the Q4 FY26 print.

The shortfall sits on the cost line. Consolidated operating margin (PBT + finance cost, over revenue) compressed to 5.63% from 8.68% a year ago — essentially flat against Q4's 5.56% floor — while net margin held at 3.77% (Q1 FY26: 5.88%; Q4 FY26: 3.60%). Standalone total expenses rose to ₹2,524.80 Cr from ₹2,184.87 Cr a year ago, growing faster than revenue as raw-material and traded-goods costs (raw material consumed ₹1,370.02 Cr, up from ₹1,141.50 Cr YoY) outpaced the topline — brokerages had specifically flagged a mix shift toward lower-margin products plus input-cost inflation ahead of the print, and the numbers bear that out. No exceptional items were booked in either the current or year-ago quarter, so the YoY profit decline is entirely operating, not one-off driven.

What management guided (4 FY-2026 call)
Management indicated a challenging near-term outlook for FY27 due to ongoing regulatory changes, energy efficiency upgrades, and geopolitical impacts on supply chains. However, for the base business (refrigerators and washers), they aim for high single-digit to early double-digit CAGR growth over the long run. Margins

This quarter: met

Management's own framing from the Q4 FY26 concall called FY27 a "challenging near-term" year on regulatory changes (the new Labour Codes effective November 2025 added an accrued ₹33.41 Cr standalone exceptional cost in FY26), energy-efficiency upgrades and supply-chain impacts, while targeting margin stabilization in the high-single-digit range longer term — this print, with OPM still sub-6%, tracks that cautious script rather than showing early stabilization. The Board also approved senior management changes alongside results: Head–Manufacturing Finance Ankit Gupta resigns effective August 14, 2026 (succeeded by Sourav Chakravarty from August 10), and Head–Service Anish Ahuja moves to COO of subsidiary Whirlpool of India Kitchen Appliances (Elica) from September 1; the filing does not tie these to the quarter's performance. The consolidated print is modestly better than standalone — consolidated PBT of ₹138.75 Cr versus standalone ₹119.97 Cr — showing the Elica subsidiary is contributing incremental profit even as the core standalone business stays under margin pressure.

Margin recovery: consolidated OPM at 5.63% remains well below management's high-single-digit target for the core business — watch Q2 FY27 for a move back toward that range

  • W2

Cost trend: raw material/traded-goods cost growth outpaced revenue this quarter — watch whether gross margin stabilizes or deteriorates further next quarter

FY27 guidance check: PBT down ~29% YoY for a second straight quarter — watch the Aug 6 earnings call for whether management reiterates or revises the 'challenging near-term, stabilizing later' outlook

Figures in INR Lacs in source, converted to Crore (÷100). No exceptional items in the current or year-ago quarter — exceptional items (insurance claim, Labour Code accrual) only appear in the FY26 12-month audited column, not any quarterly column, so no raw/adjusted split is needed. All four periods' columns cross-checked against DB comparison figures (Q4 FY26, Q1 FY26) and matched exactly.
