WPIL's consolidated Q1 FY27 print was carried almost entirely by its overseas businesses. Consolidated revenue rose ~32% YoY to ₹500.5 Cr and reported net profit for the period jumped to ₹59.0 Cr from ₹25.7 Cr a year ago (+129%); the owners'-share of profit rose more modestly to ₹33.9 Cr from ₹22.4 Cr (+51%), with EPS at ₹3.47 vs ₹2.29. Margins expanded on every read — operating margin near 17.4% (vs ~13% YoY) and net margin ~11.8% (vs ~6.6%). But the growth is heavily flattered: the year-ago base was depressed (that quarter's profit had fallen ~42%), the acquired Paterson Candy (South Africa) subsidiaries were only partly in the base (Note 3 flags non-comparability), and the share of associate/JV profit more than tripled to ₹11.2 Cr from ₹3.1 Cr — so the underlying operating improvement is real but smaller than the +129% headline suggests.
Q1 FY-2027 vs prior quarters
The standalone statement tells the opposite story and matters for the domestic thesis: standalone revenue fell ~37% YoY to ₹114.7 Cr and standalone PAT dropped ~67% to ₹6.2 Cr (EPS ₹0.63 vs ₹1.94). The geographic split confirms the split personality — Rest-of-World revenue nearly doubled to ₹388 Cr while India revenue fell to ₹112 Cr from ₹176 Cr. Within segments, Pumps & Accessories profit more than doubled (to ₹75.5 Cr) while Project (Works Contract) results slipped despite higher revenue, i.e. project margins compressed. This validates the international/South-Africa leg of management's FY27 guidance but directly contradicts the expected 'renewed momentum in domestic Jal Jeevan Mission Phase-2' — domestic execution went backwards this quarter, a concern amplified by the June 28 order debarring the parent from MP Jal Nigam tenders for up to three years (management assesses no material financial impact).
The stock went into the print at ₹481.55, down 4.7% over the past month of trading.
For context: this is the second-highest quarterly PAT of the last 6 quarters.
What the summary numbers don't show
Only ₹33.9 Cr of PAT is owner-attributable (+51% YoY) — non-controlling interests took ₹25.1 Cr — the headline doubling overstates what accrues to shareholders
Management expressed confidence for FY27, highlighting strong growth prospects driven by the international business, particularly in South Africa, and renewed momentum in the domestic Jal Jeevan Mission Phase 2. The company anticipates improved project execution and a stable project business margin profile, supported b
— This quarter: met
No brokerage consensus exists for this smallcap, so the print can't be scored against the street. Against management's own prior-concall optimism, the consolidated topline-and-margin trajectory is on-track, but the quality of the beat (base effect, inorganic consolidation, associate income, NCI absorbing ₹25.1 Cr of the profit) and the standalone contraction mean readers should treat the +129% as reported rather than underlying. The results were declared unaudited with a clean limited review; a dividend record date was already fixed (July 10) ahead of the 72nd AGM on August 7.

Sustainability of overseas/associate contribution: ₹11.2 Cr associate-JV profit and ~₹388 Cr Rest-of-World revenue drove the beat; watch if it recurs off a normalising base
Figures in Rs Lakh, converted to Cr (÷100). Consolidated PBT of 79.30 includes 11.25 Cr share of profit of associates/JV (PBT-before-share was 68.05 = TI−TE). Consolidated PAT 59.01 is total net profit for the period; only 33.89 Cr is attributable to owners of the parent (25.12 Cr is non-controlling interest) — EPS 3.47 is on the parent share. Note 3: Paterson Candy (SA) and 2 subsidiaries were acquired in Q1 FY26, so YoY is not fully comparable (inorganic effect). Year-ago consolidated base was depressed. No exceptional/one-off line items in either statement. Standalone (Indian parent) contracted sharply. Legible, unambiguous headers.
